Chinese track superstar and ex-110m hurdles world record holder Liu Xiang just announced his retirement. He has had numerous issues with his legs, the most significant of which was an achilles tendon rupture in 2012 when he was 29 years old. He has never fully recovered from that injury.
I mentioned him in one of the forum posts that I made in May 2014 and have now updated that post.
Not very often that you see an athlete rupture his/her achilles tendon and have it on video, including the pop sound and the fall thereafter. 29 year old UFC fighter Jason Saggo did just that recently and has the video to prove it. Enjoy or squirm depending on your character/state of mind/personality:
Five month after he re-ruptured his surgically repaired achilles tendon, DeAngelo Hall seems to have completely recovered. On Twitter, he posted photos of himself doing a backflip!
Had my 5 month checkup & the Dr said my achilles is stronger than ever! So I celebrated by doing back flip! I’m back! pic.twitter.com/iLieyCsr4T
